Too Manly Deejays out of the GBH camp have been kind enough to invite me to play records Sunday night over at Monkeytown in Williamsburg. This art/music space will be cleared out for a club night replete with visual projections, beaming strobe lights, and dance music programmed for grooving, jacking, two-stepping, or whatever you please. I’ll be warming things up around 11, and then stepping back on the decks later on. This is Monkeytown’s last night before closing for the entire summer to renovate their space!

Check out Too Manly Deejays on their weekly East Village Radio show.

Serious Saturday

We’ll be returning to Savalas this Saturday night for a special evening of dance music selected by the Serious Bu$iness crew!

As part of Internet Week here in New York, Rocketboom and blip.tv are kind enough to foot the bill for a two hour open bar, while you warm up for what promises to be a late night of dancing. Things kick off at 9pm, and you can expect them to last longer than you will. Mention ‘blip’ or ‘rocketboom’ at the door to get a wristband.

A few friends had asked about my set from last Thursday night, so I put that up here. No editing or touch ups, just a few drinks and a supportive dance floor! I initially planned on keeping things strictly space-related in some capacity, but couldn’t help dropping in some new found boogie 12″s (Goldie Alexander – Show You My Love!!). Oh, and that ‘Music is The Key’ record is totally fucked! (n.b. do not play scratched up Chicago house dollar bin records on hi-fi systems!) Anyways, here it is:

Live at Savalas

Be sure to check fffff.at for all the other sets, as well as a slew of archived recordings from past nights.

The Serious Bu$iness crew continues its monthly throwdown at Savalas with a especially spaced-out show. We’ll play the usual disco, boogie, r&b, and soul that you love, with an emphasis on the vocoders, synths, echoplexes, and spaceman raps that take these records – and your feet – on a trip out of the atmosphere. Check out recordings of previous shows at http://fffff.at/serious-business/.

Here’s a mix that has yet to be posted, including a bunch of my favorite boogie records that have aired on the program.

Serious Bu$iness_1.31

Tomorrow night we’re back at Savalas for a night of disco, funk, boogie, hip-hop, and other goodies. If you were at the last one, you know what to expect. Missed it? Check F.A.T. for the live recorded sets, broken into 5 parts. I’m partial to 1 & 3. The former is a heads only blend of smooth soul & rare groove that soundtracked the beginning of the night. Part 3 moves from italo to electro/hip-hop, making stops around the solar system in between.
